Report: What West Ham fans chanted at Man Utd’s Lingard
Jesse Lingard majorly struggled for any sort of regular action with Manchester United over the first half of the 2020/21 campaign.
As a result, it didn’t come as too much of a surprise when United allowed Lingard to depart Old Trafford on loan.
What did prove surprising, though, was just how impressive the midfielder looked with West Ham.
In 16 league outings for David Moyes’ outfit, Lingard notched nine goals and five assists
Playing a key role in the Hammers securing a Europa League berth for the 2021/22 season.
On the back of such an impressive loan stint
West Ham’s fans were no doubt hoping to see Lingard return next term on a permanent deal.
Despite all of this competition and his previous struggles at United, Lingard would remain at Old Trafford over the summer.
West Ham fan’s Lingard chant
Since opting to remain in Manchester, however, Lingard has seen his game time dramatically reduced.
The Englishman has been limited to three sub appearances
including one vs Young Boys earlier this week when his misplaced pass handed the Swiss outfit the win.
With Lingard once again struggling for minutes at United
Reports of a potential January return to West Ham have emerged of late.
And, judging by the reaction of West Ham fans on Sunday, they would welcome Lingard back.
Man United and West Ham of course faced off in a PL tie at the London Stadium.
Lingard did not start the tie, but was sent out to warm up around the hour-mark.
This promoted West Ham fans to chant the below at the midfielder:
“He wants to come back, he wants to come back, Jesse Lingard, he wants to come back.”
However, Lingard from bench to secured a three points for Man United against West-Ham.
