When results go wrong, a few players rather than the team are made to receive all the criticisms and backlash from the media and fans.

The 28-year-old Brazilian joined Manchester United from Shakhtar Donetsk three years ago

However, he’s yet to win over the hearts of the Manchester United faithful.

For all of his attributes, Fred has been made to look like he’s the problem in the Manchester United midfield.

Interestingly, United were beaten by Leicester City over the weekend and Fred didn’t play that game as he returned late from international duty.

Interestingly, Manchester United lacked energy in the middle of the park without Fred and the midfield seemed rigid

As United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer started with Nemanja Matic at the base of the midfield and Paul Pogba playing a slightly deeper role.

The Foxes had fun overriding Manchester United’s midfield and Solskjaer admitted after the game that he missed Fred.

Solskjaer said: “I have got many good players. Fred, Edinson Cavani, you miss them”.

“I am not making excuses for the team I put out there, they are top footballers, and we have not produced.”

Last Friday, Fred excelled in the middle of the park for Brazil and he even got an assist as Brazil defeated Uruguay 4-1 in their World Cup qualifying game.

Fred has some attributes that make him stand out — he’s energetic

He’s good on the ball, he can dribble past players and has a good shooting range.

No player likes to miss games, but the Brazilian will be happy he missed the game against Leicester City

For once, he won’t have to bear the blame as Manchester United suffered yet another defeat.

It’s now up to Solskjaer to map out his best strategy for the team and utilize the right players.

Surely, Fred isn’t Manchester United’s problem, and we now know it.
