Solskjaer reveals who to blame for Manchester United’s defeat to West Ham

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made 11 changes to the line-up for the Carabao Cup against West Ham, as he changed the entire team that started the Premier League clash with the same opposition three days earlier.

United couldn’t get a win against the Hammers and have been dumped out of the EFL Cup.

The likes of Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson had a good game but others, including Anthony Martial and Alex Telles, struggled to give their best.

Solskjaer chose not to blame Martial for failing to convert any of the team’s chances and insisted it was the entire team’s failure.

“I don’t think it is right to go into individual performances,” Solskjaer told a press conference.

“Anto was the same as the rest of the team. We played some nice football but lacked the cutting edge and he knows what we want from him.”

He also insisted that the fringe players got an opportunity to get some minutes and improve their match fitness.

The United boss said: “Today, we made that decision and some of them will definitely come out stronger for it because they’ve now got 90 minutes under the belt and are ready for the league, Champions League and FA Cup when that starts.”
