SHOCKING: Xavi disclosed Lionel Messi texts after taking Barcelona job
New Barcelona manager Xavi has explained text messages received from former teammate Lionel Messi following his appointment at the Nou Camp, after Ronald Koeman was sacked
Xavi Hernandez has revealed he exchanged text messages
Lionel Messi after agreeing to become the new manager of Barcelona following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.
Ronald Koeman was sacked at the end of last month following a poor start to the season
That has seen Barcelona slump to ninth place in La Liga, 11 points behind leaders Real Sociedad.
Xavi agreed to join Barcelona and leave Qatari side Al Sadd after winning the Qatar Super League last season, and was unveiled on Monday at the Nou Camp.
Messi texted Xavi following the news, and the new Barca boss has explained his intent on a new era at the club.
Xavi said: “Leo Messi texted me to wish the best of luck. He’s incredible but he’s not here as Eto’o or Ronaldinho”
“we’ve to think about the future, not about players who’re no longer here at Barca.”
Messi was forced to leave the club this summer as Barcelona’s financial issues meant
that it was impossible to re-sign the club legend without failing to comply with La Liga regulations
And the Argentinian joined Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer.
While Messi reported recent week before Xavi’s Barcelona appointment as head coach he could return to Nou Champ.
