Former Manchester United coach and club legend Sir Alex Ferguson finally sends a message to Erik Ten Hag to admit to taking over next season

However, Sir Alex revealed what the Dutchman must do to restore the club to its former glory

According to Ferguson, Ten Hag needs to be in charge and have control so he can bring success to Manchester United

Speaking at Punchestown horse racing festival, Fergie told RTE Racing: “I hope he does well [Ten Hag], because the club needs someone to get in control.”

The 80-year-old went on to reveal he “hopes” Ten Hag is the right man for the job

He added: “I hope he does well yeah.”

Manchester United has failed to win a Premier League title since Fergie’s last season in 2013

Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has blasted the club in recent weeks for a lack of control over the players, suggesting the current crop believes they are untouchable.

Speaking on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel, Ferdinand said: “There needs to be fear, man.

“There needs to be ‘Oof if I step out of line, if I go to a nightclub on a wrong day I’m gonna get butchered’ – not only by one of the senior players but also by one of the coaches, because they have got their ear to the ground and people will tell them.

“That’s how it needs to be run – you go out in town at the wrong time, you need to be checked.”
